On 14 June, Her Majesty’s Ambassador Chris Allan hosted a reception at his residence to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 91st birthday and the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the UK and Uzbekistan. The event brought together representatives of government agencies, businesses, diplomatic missions, international organisations, educational establishments and civil society in Uzbekistan. Music was provided by a Piper and Drummer from the London Scottish Regiment, the Tashkent Community Choir, famous Uzbek singer, Sevara Nazarkhan, and local band “Lebovsky” who performed a selection of British and Uzbek music at the event.
In his opening speech Her Majesty’s Ambassador expressed his appreciation of the positive relationship between the UK and Uzbekistan. He highlighted the Embassy’s commitment to support President Mirziyoyev’s reform plans, including through programmes worth over a million pounds, strengthening bilateral trading relations and links on education and culture.
